Jesus Heals The Paralysed Man

Continuing in our summer series on Jesus’ healing miracles, this week Chris looks at the healing of the paralysed man in Jerusalem. Why did Jesus choose to heal just him and not the others surrounding the pool? And what does the conversation Jesus has with him have to teach us about our attitudes towards miraculous healing?

Shona leads the rest of the service with sung worship led by Pete.

Jesus Heals The Official’s Son

Today we begin our summer series, and this year we will be focussing on Jesus’ healing miracles in the gospel of John. Throughout his book, John outlines seven miracles as evidence that Jesus was indeed who he said he was. In the healing of the official’s son we see that Jesus doesn’t even need to be anywhere near the person for healing to take place and Chris explores the implications of that discovery.

Karen leads the rest of the service with an update on our Mission of the Month for July, Stand by Me, and Mike leads our sung worship. There is also an opportunity for prayer for healing.

Asia Link

This week Jim Gourlay from Asia link visits to update us on their work, particularly focussing on their ministry to the people of Iran.

Chris leads the rest of the service with a reflection from Psalm 96 and we also share Communion together. Nick leads our sung worship.

Acceptance

Part of human nature is the desire to be accepted, whether that is by our family, friends, colleagues, even by society at large. But what do we put ourselves through to try and attain that acceptance? Chris reminds us that whether we are accepted or rejected by the world doesn’t matter, it’s whether we are…

Forgiveness

An all-age service on the subject of forgiveness. Last week we thought about repentance, and a large part of repentance is the forgiveness of others. What does it mean to forgive? And how does Jesus unlock the way to find forgiveness with God and with each other?

Chris and Lynne lead us through the service with readings, a performance from Lynn and Esther and a one of a kind, never to be replicated amateur dramatisation of the parable of the unforgiving servant.

Repentance

As Christians we are called to repentance. In today’s climate it’s easy to think that this just means confession of what we’ve done wrong, but Chris explains that confession is only one of several steps towards the true repentance that God is looking for. How can we be truly repentant?

Shona leads the rest of the service with sung worship this week led by Mike.

How Will Jesus Build His Church?

In the final part of our two most recent series, building and being a fellowship, Chris ties together the threads and explores how Jesus will build His church. We look at how the statements are intrinsically linked together – how you cannot be a loving, worshipping, learning, evangelistic or spirit-filled fellowship without Jesus’ guidance and how leaving just one of those out causes the rest to fall. You cannot have one without all the others!

Susan leads the rest of the service with a time for the sharing of testimonies and sung worship led by Pete.

Being a Spirit Filled Fellowship Part 3: How Can I Be Filled With the Holy Spirit?

We continue our series on being a spirit filled fellowship with Chris this week asking the question of how we can be filled with the Holy Spirit. Well, there’s a simple answer for that: ask! And keep on asking. But how do we overcome some of the barriers that keep us from asking?

After the message we had a period of time to allow us to ask God for His Holy Spirit to fill us and exercise spiritual gifts. Mike and Lynne lead our sung worship.

Pentecost 2022: Thank You, Sorry, Please

In the midst of the Platinum Jubilee weekend we take a short break from our current series and celebrate not only the historic event of Queen Elizabeth II reigning for 70 years but also the even more historic event of Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit, the birthday of the Church. Shona leads us through an all-age service, speaking on where the Holy Spirit is and how we can recognise his work. Chris leads us in our prayers for our nation, prompting us to thank God, say sorry to Him and ask Him for His help in our country and in ourselves.

Pete leads our sung worship this week.
