Lynne Johnson

Lynne has been married to Chris for over 30 years. She became a christian at Girl’s Brigade camp at the age of 11 and was baptised at Billericay Baptist church when she was 13. She works alongside Chris in the ministry and helps run Gravity – the Sunday night Youth group. Her real heart for worship is to create a space for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to meet with God. Lynne is a great believer in the transforming power of the presence of God in worship.

Karen Webb

Karen currently serves as an elder and has been a Christian and member of Burwell Baptist from her teenage years, more years than she cares to mention!  She is married to James and has two grown-up children.

Susan Norris-Roberts

Susan currently serves the church as an elder. She moved to the village in 2002 but has happy childhood memories of spending long hot summers in Burwell with her grandparents and wider family.

She became a member of the church in 2002 and was married to Pete in the chapel in 2009. She loves to encourage people and to see them reach their full potential. She also likes spending time with her grown-up boys, going for long walks in the countryside and dabbling in a bit of gardening.

Susan leads services and is developing a preaching ministry (much to her own surprise).

Nick Griffiths

Having been born and raised in Burwell, the village and its community is close to my heart. I joined Burwell Baptist Church as a teenager and have since been baptised, married, and am raising a family within the congregation. I have a heart for worship, a passion for music and a love of rugby.

Andrew Webb

Andrew (Andy to his nearest and dearest) was appointed to serve as a deacon in September 2019. He first attended Burwell Baptist Church when he was about a week old and has been a regular face in the congregation ever since. He was baptised here in 2010 and became a member in 2015 once he moved back to Burwell after 4 years studying at the University of Leeds.

Anthony Cobbold

Ant, currently serves the church as a deacon. He was born and brought up in Stanningfield, a small village, just outside Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk but has lived in the village since 1996. He was baptised at Bradfield and Rougham Baptist Church in 1983 aged 17. He became a member of Burwell Baptist Church around 2009. He has two daughters and a son. He uses his practical skills around the church building and grounds, leads services and helps organise men’s meetings . He is a keen supporter of Manchester United and still plays football in Burwell.

Trevor Wick

Trevor currently serves the church as a deacon. Trevor is married to Shona (who runs Good News Club at the church) and they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in March 2016. He took early retirement from the Civil Service in June 2016 to help with family matters, has 2 grown up daughters, a grandson and a granddaughter. Trevor also does volunteer work as a Town Pastor in Newmarket on Saturday nights.

James Webb

James, serves as a deacon and church treasurer.  He previously served as an elder until 2019.  He has been a member for many years, he won’t admit how many, but he was baptised here in 1982.  He is married to Karen and they have two grown up children.  He currently works in the Finance Division of The University of Cambridge.

He has passion for seeing men, women and children reach their full potential in God.  He teaches in Sunday club and regularly leads worship.  He is one of our representatives on the Churches Together Committee where he serves as Treasurer.
