Mission

We take seriously Jesus’ call to go into all the world and make disciples. We encourage individuals to get involved in local and international mission and partner with others to make this possible.

Local Mission

Local Mission

We are involved in outreach events as a church and as individuals. We encourage members to get involved with local initiatives like Ely Foodbank and Newmarket Open Door. Individuals who are in need can obtain foodbank vouchers from the Pastor.

Members serve with Town Pastors in Newmarket.

Home Mission

Home Mission is all about helping Baptist churches and individuals to reach their mission potential and bring the love of God to their communities. Grants are given to support a variety of ministries in and through Baptist churches and chaplains across the country. It also enables all our churches and ministers to be supported and helped through the work of the Regional Associations and the specialist teams.

Newmarket and District Youth For Christ

Newmarket & District Youth for Christ is a UK charity that works in and around 5 secondary schools in the local area. They run lessons, assemblies, lunch clubs, and prayer spaces in schools; while outside of school we run youth clubs and residentials. Members from the church have been involved with Newmarket and District Youth for Christ since its foundation. We continue to support financially, in prayer and individuals serve in various capacities.

GenR8

Started by two local Christians GenR8 became a charitable trust in March 2010, with eight trustees. At the core of GenR8’s work are termly assembly presentations to children in over 150 schools. Currently one of our members works in the team.

Care for the Family

Care for the Family are a national charity which aims to promote strong family life and to help those who face family difficulties. They focus primarily on the following areas of family life: marriage, parenting and bereavement. Their aim is to be accessible to every family whatever their circumstances and to create resources and support that are preventative, evidence-based and easy to apply.

Bible Society

For over 200 years Bible Society has been working to bring the Bible to life; to help people around the world engage with it, relate to it, and make sense of it.

That single mission drives a huge range of activities. In some parts of the world, bringing the Bible to life focuses on translation and distribution projects. Elsewhere it focuses on leadership training, or literacy programmes, or interfaith dialogue. Closer to home, in England and Wales, it focuses on advocacy effort, schools outreach and devotional resources.

World Mission

World Mission

We believe we are called to be part of Jesus’ worldwide commission. We do this by regular giving from the church and as individuals, through visiting missionaries and supporting individuals for one off mission trips. Each month we focus on one mission for prayer and update, we call this our “Mission of the Month”.

BMS

We support the work of the Baptist Missionary Society. As part of our support we have been linked to Alan and Megan Barker. Originally from Cambridgeshire, they worked with the United Mission to Nepal from 2000 to 2004, returning in 2007 they are now based in Surket in Western Nepal, working with the International Nepal Fellowship. Megan works in occupational therapy and Alan in programme support.

TearFund

Tearfund is a Christian charity, called to follow Jesus wherever the need is greatest around the world. They help communities overcome the worst effects of poverty and disasters – they believe that the same people who face these issues, also have the best idea as to how they can overcome them. Tearfund works alongside local churches and other locally-based organisations in over 50 countries to help people realise their plans for a better future.

Asia Link

Asia Link are reaching Asia by supporting, training and encouraging Asian believers to share the powerful gospel of Jesus within their own cultures. The impact of individual people turning to Jesus reminds us of God’s heart for the nations and fuels our passion for reaching the vast continent of Asia.

Christian Solidarity Worldwide

Christian Solidarity Worldwide is a human rights organisation which specialises in religious freedom and works on behalf of those persecuted for their Christian beliefs, persecuted for other religious belief or persecuted for lack of belief.

Stand by Me

Standy by Me is a child-sponsorship scheme. They rescue children, then we do whatever it takes to provide the care, love and attention they need to thrive. They do this through Children’s homes, Schools, Care Centres, and Family Support. We sponsor a child as a church and individual members sponsor children.

AIM

Africa Inland Mission (AIM) is a Christian mission sending agency with a heart for Africa’s peoples. We have our roots in a small band of faithful men and women who, in 1895, ventured inland to reach Africans untouched by the gospel. Their vision set the course of AIM for over 120 years, as a community called and sent to live and minister among Africa’s least-reached peoples. This call still remains.

YWAM

Youth With A Mission is a global movement of Christians from many cultures, age groups and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world. Also known as YWAM (pronounced “WHY-wham”), unite in a common purpose to know God and to make Him known. Back when they began in 1960, their main focus was to help youth get involved in missions. Today, they still focus on youth but also include people of all ages. They currently have tens of thousands of staff (called “YWAMers”) from nearly every country, including places like Indonesia, Nepal, Mozambique, and Colombia.
