Sermons from 2020 (Page 4)

The Extra Mile

This service is available in both video and audio format.
This week Chris looks at the next part of the Sermon on the Mount, examining Jesus’ teaching on love for your enemies. Something which – in light of recent events in the US – looks more relevant now than it did even a week ago.
Elsewhere Lynne leads the rest of the service with contributions from Graham and Sue, Sarah G and Pete providing the music.

Maintaining Integrity

This service is available in both video and audio format.
The Spirit is given. He is given indeed! (don’t worry, that will make sense later).
We find ourselves at another significant time in the church calendar: Pentecost, the giving of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the church. And we are once again celebrating in isolation from each other, separate in body but not in unity or purpose.
Chris leads us through the next section in the Sermon on the Mount, looking at Matthew 5:27-37. Meanwhile, Susan leads the rest of the sevice, Daniel brings us the reading, Andy leads prayers and Mike has chosen the music for us today.

Anger Management

This service is available in both video and audio format.
Chris contines our series on the sermon on the mount, looking at Matthew 5:17-26.
Karen is leading the rest of the service, Graham and Sue provide an update on their situation and Pete, Nick and Susan have recorded some music to help us worship.

Zoom Communion 1 Peter

And now for something completely different. Spoiler alert: that won’t be the last time you hear that particular franchise referenced today.
On Sunday we attempted to hold a live virtual service via Zoom so that we were able to share communion together. This is a recording of that service. Due to the nature of Zoom recordings unfortunately the video quality is not fantastic, but we hope that you can still get a sense of God’s presence amongst us despite our separation.

Salt and Light

This service is available in both video and audio format.
Chris is taking a week off preaching this week, and so Andrew Dalwood picks up the series on the Sermon on the Mount, looking at being salt and light in our current situation.
Anthony leads us through the rest of the service, with contributions from Chris (we couldn’t keep him away…) and Andy. Pete R and Ant have both chosen music to help us worship this week.

Life Changing Attitudes Part 2

This service is available in both video and audio format.
We’re continuing our new series on the Sermon on the Mount and this week Chris looks at the second part of the Beatitudes.
James leads the rest of the service, featuring reflections, prayers from Sally, a reading from Greta and music chosen by Mike.
Also, this week we’ve been digging in the archives and found some songs recorded for a service in 2017 that have been cleaned up, remastered and will help us get a sense of what it is like to be all together as a congregation again. Sing along with yourself from 3 years ago!

Life Changing Attitudes Part 1

This service is available in both video and audio format.
Chris begins a new sermon series looking at what are possibly Jesus’ most famous teachings: the sermon on the mount. This week, focussing on the beatitudes.
Shona leads the rest of the service, with contributions from Pete and Kath, who share how life has changed for them over the past few weeks, Trevor brings the reading and Mike leads prayers.
We’re doing something a little different for the music this week. Watch the service video to find out more, and thanks to Pete for choosing this week’s selection.

Prophecy Today

This service is available in both video and audio format.
In light of our current situation, Chris looks at the Biblical basis for prophecies and explores how they work today. Lynne leads the rest of the service and introduces poetry from Barry, an update from the Hurley family and prayers from Vanessa.
The music playlist for this week’s worship time, chosen by Lynne, is in the paragraph below the video.

Amazing Love Easter 2020

This service is available in both video and audio format.
He is risen indeed!
Karen leads our Easter service for 2020. Chris follows up on last week by looking at how the resurrection story was reported in John’s gospel, Maureen gives us an update on how her family is coping with the coronavirus outbreak, plus prayers from Paul and a reading from Pete.

Another Pete (Roberts, not Robinson) has chosen this week’s music and the playlist can be found in the paragraph below the video.

Palm Sunday 2020

This service is available in both video and audio format.

As we enter a very different Holy Week to the one we were expecting a few weeks ago, Chris looks at Palm Sunday through the way it is reported in John’s gospel. Susan is our service leader and she also introduces updates from Amanda, Nick and Emily, prayers from Lynne and a Palm Sunday poem read by Shona.

Mike has chosen the music for this week and the playlist can be found in the paragraph underneath the video.
