Science Sunday 2022

There is a fallacy within the general public, often promoted by atheistic scientists, that science and faith are incompatable with one another. This is categorically not the case! For our Science Sunday 2022, we have invited Dr Ruth Bancewicz from the Faraday Institute to speak on her experiences on the subject and how she believes that science and faith can – and should – go hand-in-hand.

Chris leads the rest of the service and Pete and Nick lead our sung worship.

Love Never Fails

In the conclusion to our recent series on Love, we look at Paul’s final and definitive statement that love never fails. Chris examines how things like prophecy and knowledge will cease as we move from the “now” where we currently are to the “then” when Jesus returns in his glory but how love will endure. Love both leads us to God and keeps us in His presence, ever-enduring and never ceasing.

Pete and Nick lead our sung worship and we also have an update from Trevor about November’s Mission of the Month, Mercy Ships.

Love Always

In our All Age Service for November, Chris looks at verse 7 of 1 Corinthians 13. “[Love] always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (NIV)
What does that mean? How does God practically show that protection, trust, hope and perseverence and how can we show those qualities to others?

Mike and Lynne lead our sung worship and Vanessa launches our Operation Christmas Child appeal for 2022.

Love Does Not Delight In Evil But Rejoices With The Truth

In a world where absolute truth is increasingly being sidelined by opinions stated as truth as Christians we have the task of making sure that the truth of Jesus doesn’t get diluted by false truths and alternate facts. How do we do that? Chris looks at how – through the ability to love given to us through the Holy Spirit – we can confront the sin and evil in the world with the truth of Jesus.

Susan leads the rest of the service with our final YWAM update, and Pete leads our sung worship.

Love Is Not Easily Angered, Keeps No Record of Wrongs

Anger. It’s something that, if left unchecked, can take over our lives. We can be angry with each other, angry with ourselves, even angry with God. In the latest in our series on love, Chris looks at how love can overcome anger. The agape love that the Holy Spirit brings us allows us to forget our anger and forgive.

Karen leads the rest of the service as we hear how our mission of the month YWAM is helping with the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. Mike leads our sung worship.

Love Does Not Envy, Does Not Boast, Is Not Proud

When we look at the gifts that God has given others, it can be very easy to fall into the trap of either being jealous of that person or considering your gifts to be of greater value than theirs. This week Chris reminds us that love does not envy, does not boast and is not proud. Each person has a gift and each gift has a part to play in God’s plan. We shouldn’t need to be envious or value ourselves above anyone else.

Andy leads the rest of the service as we hear a bit about our mission of the month, YWAM, and Pete and Nick lead our sung worship.

Brighter!

Jesus says that he is the light of the world. But he also says more than that, he says that if we follow him and accept him that we can be lights to the world as well. On our church “away but staying at home” day, Chris Duffett looks at how we can shine brighter for God as a church and as individuals. Chris is a Baptist minister, evangelist, artist and teacher whose heart is in bringing more and more people to God. He encourages us to step outside our comfort zones and shine as brightly as we can for God.

Chris (our Chris, not Chris Duffett!) leads the rest of the service with prayers, particularly for Cooking Together @ Home, and Pete leads our sung worship.

Love is Patient and Kind

What Is Love? is the title of a 1993 number 2 hit for the Eurodance artist Haddaway. It is also the subject of our all-age service for October (the question, not the song). James leads us through some possible definitions of love, focussing on love being patient and kind, Paul’s first two definitions of love from 1 Corinthians 13.

Mike leads our sung worship and Chris leads prayers.

Love

Love is one of those words that we hear a lot and which sometimes seems to lose its meaning. But in the Bible, love is given a status far higher than anything else except God Himself. As Chris is away Kath examines what love means to God and how we can all share in that love and be ambassadors of that love to those around us.

Andy leads the rest of the service with a reflection on the Queen’s funeral and Pete leads our sung worship.

Harvest 2022

Harvest is a time where – once a year – we come together as the Church to set aside one Sunday to specifically say thank you to God for His provision. But what do we give back to God in return? As Chris is away, Ricky challenges us to consider how we spend our money, time and gifts. Do we really give back to God what He deserves?

Ant leads the rest of the service with an update from Vanessa on our Mission of the Month, Tearfund, and Barry leads our communion.
