After a break of a few months we resume our 175th Anniversary celebrations with our annual celebration of the Harvest festival. Lorraine and Chris lead our service as we not only reflect on God’s provision of food for the year but also remember the witness that our church has been to the wider village over the last 175 years.
I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. (John 4:35-36, NIV)
Pete and Nick lead our sung worship this week.
This Sunday we celebrated the baptisms of Abs and Luke, two people who have decided to make the outward declaration of their faith and follow Jesus through the waters. We hear from both of them as they share their testimonies with us, of how God has led them both in their lives and helped them make the decision to publically profess their faith.
Elsewhere in the service Chris (who has been relegated to the second paragraph this week – I’m sure he won’t mind!) continues in our Starting With God series by looking at David’s declarations that God is his God. We see that what we choose to worship reflects our deep-rooted priorities and how we too can join David in his declarations.
