Sermons from July 2023

Acts 3

We continue our new series looking at the book of Acts with Chris speaking on the healing at the temple of the man who could not walk. This is the apostles taking all that they have learned from the last few years of their lives with Jesus and following his example. How can we follow the lead of Peter and John and allow Jesus to work through us?

James leads the rest of the service (possibly giving us the answer before Chris asks the question!) and Mike and Lynne lead our sung worship.

Acts: Introduction

This week we begin a new series looking at the book of Acts and how the Holy Spirit worked through the early church to bring about the great people movement that we’re a part of today. In week 1, Chris brings us an introduction to the series and an overview of Acts 1 and 2. How can we view a very familiar story (Pentecost) in a new way?

Andy leads the rest of the service, thinking about the way the disciples were able to preach to everybody in Jerusalem regardless of the language they spoke, whilst Pete leads our sung worship.

Chris & Lynne’s Sabbatical Recap

A clip from our evening sharing service “Let The Redeemed of the Lord Tell Their Story” where Chris shares a bit more about what he and Lynne have been doing over the last 3 months, how they’ve experienced God and how this time has given them the breathing space to begin to take the next steps along their journey with him.

Seek the Lord With All Your Heart

This week Chris and Lynne return from their sabbatical period, with much of their time spent on seeking the Lord and His plans. Chris spends this first week back looking at Acts 15 and asking how we can continue to seek the Lord for ourselves.

Karen leads the rest of the service whilst Lynne and Dave lead our sung worship.

Assembling the Puzzle

As we prepare for the end of Chris’ sabbatical period and his return next week, this Sunday we took the opportunity to look back on our experiences of this time. What has God been saying to us through the guest speakers and the messages they have brought? Andy Webb leads us on a meandering path through the overarching themes and threads brought to us over the last 12 weeks and asks: what next? How do we move forward?

We also have a time for sharing what other members of the congregation have learned, whilst Susan leads a reflection looking at the Israelites taking the memorial stones from the middle of the Jordan river as they finally crossed into the promised land. Pete and Nick lead our sung worship.

Family

Ricky and Vanessa lead our all age service for July on the theme of “families”. What does the word family mean to you? How does it make you feel? How can we extend our understanding of the word family to realise that it means the whole church?

Mike leads our sung worship for this week.
