Sermons by Peter Wells

Themes in Hebrews: A Call to Persevere

We come to the conclusion of our series in the book of Hebrews as Peter Wells looks at the final theme: a call to persevere. We see in chapter 10 that the writer implores his readers to persevere in faith in many different ways through the phrase “let us”. An encouragement for us to run with perseverance the race marked out before us (sound familiar?) despite whatever potential traps the enemy lays in our way.

James leads the rest of the service as we begin to launch our testimony programme in readiness for our 175th anniversary celebrations next year. Pete leads our sung worship.

Jesus’ Teaching on Prayer: Luke 11

This week we conclude our short series looking at Jesus’ teaching on prayer. We started the series looking at Matthew’s account of Jesus’ teaching about the Lord’s Prayer and we conclude with Luke writing about the same event. As Chris is away at the Baptist Assembly, Peter Wells speaks on how we can be bold in our prayer life and how our whole lives can become lives of prayer.

Ant leads the rest of the service with some thoughts about our latest new friend, Jim (you had to be there…), whilst Ricky and Dave lead our sung worship.

Hope

As Chris and Lynne are away Peter Wells brings us the message this morning, speaking on Hope. What does the Bible say about our present hope and how can we have hope in the things yet to come? Andy leads the rest of the service whilst Nick and Pete lead our sung worship.

Following Jesus

Peter Wells makes the perilous journey of 6 miles from Lode to Burwell to bring us our message this week. He speak on the calling of the first disciples and how Jesus bucked the trend of the Jewish Rabbis of the time by selecting his own disciples and calling those that nobody would have guessed. Alone they were just ordinary fishermen and tax collectors, yet because of Jesus’ calling they started a long chain of testimony that reaches through history right to us today. How can we carry on propogating the message?

Andy leads the rest of the service whilst Mike leads our sung worship.
