In this parable or story, Jesus wanted to tell us how much we mean to God.
Jesus told the story of the lost sheep. A shepherd had 100 sheep. Each day he would call to them and count them, ‘1, 2, 3… 97, 98,99, oh no!!
Where’s the other one?’ he said. It was getting dark and he was afraid an animal might hurt the sheep, so he decided he would go looking for her, even after sundown. He walked to the end of the field and kept calling her name.
He looked under bushes and walked a long way.
He walked along the road, far from his home, calling and looking for his little sheep.
He was getting really worried and tired. He looked in the long grass to see if she was hiding.
And there she was. “Oh joy!!” he said, “I have found her”. He put her on his shoulders and took her home, rejoicing.
Jesus told this story to show they God searches and seeks to rescue those who wander away from Him.
