In this parable or story, Jesus wanted to explain to the people that God invites everyone into His Kingdom.
Once, a rich man was celebrating a wedding with a grand feast and he invited all his friends and family to share in the happy day.
But only a few people turned up whilst the others made excuses not to attend. One man said, “I have just bought a field and need to look at it”
Whilst another man said, “I have just got married and need to talk to my new wife”.
The man was very disappointed and told his servant to go out and to invite people he saw in the street, including those who were poor, sick or disabled.
More people came to the Wedding Feast, but there was still more space and lots of lovely food to eat, so the man sent his servant out a second time. This time, he went out side the town and invited people who there.
The people who were living outside of the town heard about the wedding feast and were glad to be invited and joined in.
Jesus taught this parable to show that God wants everyone, including those who feel excluded, to join Him and to live in love, community, and partnership with God.
