The resurrection lies at the heart of the Christian faith– without the resurrection we could have no way of knowing that the cross was anything more than an act of self-sacrifice. As we have a risen Saviour there is no situation beyond His power to resurrect. The power that raised Christ from the dead is at work in you.
How can we deal with change? Does it always need to be painful? Do we even need to change anyway? Chris, Barry, Susan and James summarise the teachings we received during our church away day on the theme of Change or Transformation.
Jesus asked great questions and challenged His followers to enter into deeper covenant with Him. Chris invites us to renew our discipleship covenant with Jesus.
We all know the Pharisees got it wrong but how did they do so and do we do the same? Where does evil come from and what can we do about it? More challenging teaching on how to develop a closer relationship with God.
Jesus does amazing miracles: healing, feeding and walking on water. In the midst of this display of divine power is the story of the beheading of John the Baptist. Jesus does not set this prisoner free, He does not prevent John’s death nor does He raise John from the dead as He raised Lazarus. Chris helps us to explore the characters in this dramatic passage of history and to think about the implications for our own lives.
Faith is important in opening the way for miracles but how can we grow in faith? Susan and Chris explore this theme from Mark 6. We are all challenged to take steps of faith as our hearts are softened and we grow in understanding.
God’s word not only informs but transforms. We study the context of God’s prophetic words to us for this year and seek to apply them to our context.
In the Churches Together in Burwell Unity Service 2019 we join with worshippers from the other churches in Burwell to share one service together. The theme for this year’s service is Justice, and Chris shares something of what God’s justice looks like on Earth.
Chris begins to respond to our year text and share some thoughts on his vision for 2019.
In the first service of 2019, Chris begins the year reflecting on what God has taught us and shared with us in 2018.
